from Vital Records of Croydon, NH:
    Baptisms:
July 5, 1835 - Susan Metcalf, dr of Moses Metcalf

Her granddaughter, Myrtle Pease Lindesmith described her as "a saintly soul." She read the Bible to Myrtle and her other grandchildren when she would visit in their home. In fact Myrtle said that she became a Christian while her grandmother, who was visiting at their home, read the Bible to her and prayed with her.

Her obit says she was born in Claremont, New Hampshire, which is situated on the western border of New Hampshire, on the banks of the Sugar River, which is a branch of the Connecticut River.

from Vital Records of Croydon, NH:
Croydon Oct 15th 1846. This certifies that Mr. Miles Peas of Burlington, Vt. and Miss Susan Maria Metcalf of this town have been published by me D.R. Hall, Town Clerk.

They lived in Lowell, Mass & Burlington, Vt where Miles ran mills.
In 1856 they moved to Minnesota, maybe with some family.
In 1860 they left their relatives in Minnesota and moved to Missouri, finally settling in 1868 in Douglas Co. Miles died there in 1879; Susan died 1895, in nearby Howell Co, Mo.

1880 Douglas Co, Mo, Richland twp (probably should be Richville)
Susan M. Pease, 58 (b1822 NH), mother, widowed, liv with C.E. Pease, par b NH

Susan's obituary probably from the West Plains, Mo. Quill:
    "Death of Susan M.M. Pease
Death at the age of over 70 years - The funeral this afternoon.
At the house of her son, George A. Pease, in this city, yesterday, Susan M. Metcalf Pease, died at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 9 days.
She was born in Claremont, N.H., January 2, 1823, and for the last 20? years of her life had lived in Howell Co (Mo), making her home, since the death of her husband in Douglas County in 1879, with her children.
There were eight children, five sons and three daughters. The sons are Clarence E., George A., Clint M., Myron and Alando, and the daughters are Ida, Ella, and Minerva. One sister and three brothers survive her. [This would be Ursula, Cyrenus, Obed & probably Edwin]
The deceased was an excellent woman and a faithful member of the M.E. church. She had a host of friends who will mingle their tears over her grave, while they extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
The funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the M.E. church by Revs. January and Medsker at the conclusion of which the interment took place in the city cemetery."

    Another obituary:
    "Died
Mrs. Susan Medcalf (sic) Pease, of the Pease Brothers, died at the residence of her son, Geo. A. in this (city?) Thursday evening, after a short (illness?).
Mrs. Pease was born in New Hampshire in 1823, and was 71 years, (???)
She raised a large family of (boys?) all of whom are well and (favorably?) known throughout South Missouri.
She has been a faithful member of the M.E. Church for more than 20 years. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.W. Medsker at 3 o'clock (?)day afternoon. The remains were interred in the Oak Grove Cemetery . . . ." [Actually, it was the Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains]
