    "J.S. Meigs, a native of Chicago, was a resident of this place [St Johnsbury, Vt] from 1873 to '76 while preparing for college, and graduated from Princeton College in 1880...traveled extensively in this and other counties, and is a wide-awake businessman. His business was established in 1873 by G.G. Stevens who conducted it until 1890, when it came into the hands of the present proprietor.... J.S.
