    From "The History of Pulaski County Georgia" (1935), pp. 417:

    "Elizabeth Hodge Smith was born in Calhoun Co. GA, Dec. 9, 1855. During the War Between the States her family refugeed to Houston County, where she attended school before going to Mary Sharp College at Winchester, TN, from which school she was graduated with first honor in 1877. Mrs. Smith was president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and an educator in Hawkinsville for many years. She and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church of Hawkinsville. She died Jan. 2, 1932."
