Karin immigrated from Norway in 1887, a year before she married Peter Anderson. She was the mother of eight children

    Trondheim, Norway.
    Christmas 1999.

    "Dear Flora,
Thank you for your interesting letter. We are always interesting to hear from our relatives; sincle [sic] most of the family on my father's side imigrated to U.S., 4 our of 5 children.
When Norman, Henry, Alpha and Clarence visited up in 1973 we saw the likeness, - all slender.
We feel that their imigration must have been dramatic. Karen and Anna left Norway in 1887 - Karen was 19 years old and her sister Anna only 13. They both got big families over there.
We would be most grateful if there is som historic tales about their struggle until they were settled, - the boat trip, Ellis Island in New York where all imigrants passed through and the way to the midwest.
Enclosed please find a short history of Hans Pederson.
We are very grateful for the complete statistics Dora made up.
Then we wish you Marry Christmas and Happy New Year from Randi and Svenn Pederson."

«i» Doris Sather wrote about several family members including Karin Dortea Peterson Anderson.
Below, she wrote about Karin in 1983:«/i»
"Karen migrated to the United States in 1887. The trip across
the Atlantic took one month and was very unpleasant. She first
went to Philadelphia, PA and worked for a family for $1.00 a
    month plus room and board.
Her mother had make a trunk full of new clothes for her to use
in America. The mother of the household she worked for took the
clothes for her two daughters and gave Karen some of the
daughter's old clothes in return. When her brothers, Ole and
Anton Pederson heard how badly she was treated, they sent money
for Karen to come to Northwood, IA.
Once in Iowa, Karen worked for a time at the Arlington Hotel,
    Lake Mills.
She was 19 when married to Abraham Peter Anderson."

«i»The Mason City Globe Gazette published Karin's obituary on December 27, 1948.«b»«/i»
