    William Luther Irick Sr., age 71, of 2823 Ward Street, died Tues. September 4, 2001 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Mr. Irick was born November 27, 1929 in Tampa, FL and was the son of Delmar Irick Sr. and Bertha Johnson Irick. Mr. Irick was a US Army Veteran serving with the 82nd Airborne. He was a Race Car Driver in England and France in he 1950?s. He retired from racing and became a Millwright and retired in 1974 after a work related accident. Mr. Irick was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 48 years, Doris Irick; A son, William L. Irick Jr. and wife Maureen of Wilmington; Two grandchildren, Christine and Hayley Irick; A brother, Delmar Irick Jr. of Camden, SC and a sister Frances Ossorio of Camden, SC. Funeral Services will be held from the Graveside at Greenlawn Memorial Park Fri. Sep 7, 2001 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Leroy Evans officiating.
