I recently ran across statement in Audabon Co. , Iowa History (1915) that states: "Vachel Ball was a descendant of the Ball Family of Virginia,which was related to George Washington". Vachel Ball is my 3 Great Grandfather. I'm trying to find the tie to Mary Ball Washington and could use some help. Thanks in advance. The exact quote from Audabon Co., Iowa, History (printed abt 1915) states: " Barbara Ball (my 2nd GGrandmother) was born on 9/9/1837 in Belmont Co.,OH. She is daughter of Vachel and Francis (Everett) Ball, who were natives of Virginia and Ohio, respectively. Vachel Ball was a descendant of the Ball family of Virginia, which was related to George Washington. In 1849 the family went by steamer to La Salle, Illinois, and then by train they removed to Princeton, in that State, and settled on a farm four miles west of Princeton. During the eighties Vachel Ball removed his family to Poweshiek Co. IA, and there his death occurred at the advanced age of ninety-four years."
