From Pennington County History (1976) submitted by Mrs. Bob Davidson: ?John and Laura (Arveson) came to Thief River Falls where they had a few stores and a house shop. His mother and father came from Sweden. They had a small farm south of Thief River Falls. Mr. Dahl had to walk to St .Hilaire to the mill to buy flour. There was no bridge, so they had to wade across the river.

Mr. and Mrs. John Dahl had 13 children and very hard times. Four children are living today (1976): Elvin Dahl and Mrs. Art Wilson who still live in Thief River Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Hogquist of Minneapolis and Mrs. Burt Bean of Washington.

The late John and Laura Dahl were the parents of the late Harry Dahl who was a businessman in Thief River Falls from 1949 to 1972. Mrs. Harry Dahl dug about 300 basements for homes and businesses in Thief River Falls.?
