    Born in Glasgow, Scotland to Roderick and Mary MacDonald, Tacksman for Eignaig Farm, Moidart, Inverness Shire. Family returned to Eignaig after Culloden. Older brother, Donald, inherited Tack. Angus was conscripted into Navy and served as Midshipman on "Formidable" under Admiral Rodney for 6 years and returned to Eignaig Farm after Revolutionary War. Left Scotland in 1791 on board the Dunkeld. Arrived in Pictou in September, 1791. Took up land at Bailey's Brook in 1792 and married in same year.

    Unto his excellency Sir George Provost Baronett Governor and Commandant in Chief in and over His Majesty's Provinces of Nova Scotia and dependencies etc.

    The petition of Angus McDonald, Senior, Second Division Bailey's Brook, Gulf of St. Lawrence humbly herewith
    That your excellencies petitioner was born in the parish of Moidart, Shire of Inverness, North Britain, Emigrated to said Province, September, 1791, his family consisting of his wife and six children is settled seventeen years past in said Bailey's Brook by authority of His Excellency the late Governor Parr, has one hundred and sixty seven acres of land and about fifty acres thereof cleared, prays that your excellency would grant him a deed of confirmation of said quantity in shape and form agreeable to late number 12 as appears in the Plan herewith sent. Your petitioner took the Oath of Allegiance to his Majesty being on board one of His Majesty's Men of War during the American War, and is ready and willing to take it again and to conform to all rules and regulations which may be required by Government and your Excellency's petitioner as is duty bound will ever pray.

    Angus McDonald, Senior personally appeared before me the above A McDonald who being solemnly sworn deponeth, and saying on his solemn oath that the foregoing petition is the real truth and nothing but the truth.
