  • Note:
Susan, relict of George Hutchings, died at her home on Liberty street, in this city, at 10 o'clock a.m. last Wednesday. She was born at Berwick-on-Tweed, Scotland, July 20, 1806. At the age of 14, she moved with her parents to Lower Canada, where she was married to George Hutchings, October 18, 1824, and with him came to this county in 1860, settling on a farm two miles east of Morris, where her husband died June 25, 1866. She remained on the farm until several years ago when she moved to this city. Of fourteen children born to them seven were boys and seven were girls, of whom five are living; viz: Richard, residing near Chicago; James, who lives at New Cambria, MO; Thomas, and Mrs. John Buck, of this city, and Abraham, now at Burlington, Kansas.
For many years deceased was a devout member of the Morris Methodist church, from which place her remains will be removed for burial at 2 p.m. today, Friday. Rev. J. H. Alling, of Evanston, an old friend of deceased, will deliver the sermon. She was a highly respected lady, and her death will be learned by many with sadness.
