Harlan Grimwood
Harlan W. Grimwood, Supervisor of Bristol township for 36 years and one of the best known and respected men of this county, passed away very suddenly at his home, Monday, September 10. The body was removed to the Hasemeyer Funeral home in Yorkville.
Mr. Grimwood was born in Bristol township, on June 2, 1887, and attained the age of 69 years.
He is survived by four children, Phillip H. of Boulder, Colorado; Newton I. of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Elizabeth Lamson of Tucson, Arizona and David M. D. of Portland, Oregon. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Sidney, of Fling, Michigan and Maurice of Bristol Township.
Mr. Grimwood was a lifelong member of the Yorkville Federated church and active and interested in all its affairs. In younger days he was an accomplished violinist and played at many local functions both as a soloist and in orchestras.
As Supervisor of Bristol township for 36 years he had a wide acquaintances both in Kendall and surrounding counties and his integrity and earnestness was without question in all his dealings. He will be sadly missed in many circles by his innumerable friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice in 1935.
The Rev. Dean E. Dairymple will conduct the funeral services at the Yorkville Federated Church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge Cemetery, in Bristol.
