LORRAINE CASSENS
LORRAINE CASSENS, 77 BELVIDERE - Lorraine Cassens, 77, of Belvidere, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Rockford.
Born Dec. 22, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Herbert and Rosalia (Brakope) Zinzer . She attended school in the Chicago area. Married Fredrick Cassens on May 14, 1949, in Geneva. An area resident since 1950, she worked as a cook at K-Mart in Belvidere and then cooked at Highland Hospital in Belvidere before retiring. Lorraine loved to cook and enjoyed being with her friends at Sheffield Meadows while playing bingo, attending church services and for their pot luck dinners.
Survivors include daughters, Annette (Jerry) Fleming of Glendale, Ariz., Carol (Charlie) Hogetvedt of Scottsdale, Ariz., Sandra (David) Wallschlaeger and Margie (Jerry) Ridlon, both of Poplar Grove; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bryan) Suter of Chandler, Ariz.., Michelle Fleming of Glendale, Jonathon Shaw of Omaha, Neb., Bridgett Strobel of Rockford, Heather Prather of Belvidere, Terra (Keith) Buteyn of Rockford, Codey Prather of Belvidere; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Schindlebeck and Yvonne Kuter, both of Aurora .
Predeceased by parents; five brothers; two sisters.
Service at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in Belvidere Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Heather of Galesburg, officiating. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, in the funeral home.
Interment private. A memorial is being established in her memory.
