Note: Katherine M. Ryder Mrs. Katherine M. Ryder, 90, of Morris and formerly Joliet, passed away Friday March 28, 2008, at Walnut Grove Village in Morris. Visitation and video tribute will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington St. (one block east of Illinois 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 31, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Katherine's memory to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund. Born Nov. 28, 1917, in Joliet, Mrs. Ryder was a daughter of the late John and Nell Brennan-Glynn. She was raised and educated in Joliet and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. She was a former member of St. Raymond Nonnatus Parish in Joliet and, in her free time, she enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Mrs. Ryder was a dedicated mother and wife, and though her family moved frequently due to her husband traveling with the military, she was always an understanding and faithful wife and mother. Survivors include her son, Stephen (Maryanne) Ryder of Morris; five grandchildren: Katie (Bud) Sheedy of Verona, Paula (Derrick) Pfeifer of Mazon, Monica Ryder of Morris, and Edward (fiancé - Amanda Red) Squellati and Stephen Squellati , both of Coal City; four great grandchildren, Zachary Pfeifer, Gwyneth Pfeifer, Madison Squellati and Trever Squelatti; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Ryder was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darwin E. Ryder (2000); daughter Therese Ryder (2007); one brother, Jack Glynn; and one sister, Dorothy Specht.
