Note: Dorothy M. Ratcliff SENECA, Ill. - Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy M.) Ratcliff, 89, Seneca, Ill., passed away very peacefully with her loving family by her side in Morris Hospital Friday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2010. The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris, with the Rev. Philip Peterson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. She was born on April 1, 1921 in Morris, Ill., the daughter of George and Grace Morall Peacock. She received her education in the Seneca schools and graduated from Seneca High School with the Class of 1939. Dorothy married Clifford D. Ratcliff on Feb. 19, 1942, in the parsonage of the First United Methodist Church in Morris. With her husband, they farmed in the Seneca area for 50 years. She also was employed with Morris Hospital in the housekeeping department as the linen controller. She loved to crochet, read, and tend to her flower and vegetable gardens, along with spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seneca. Surviving are her loving children, Pat (Dennis) Fosen and Wesley (Dixie) Ratcliff, of Seneca; six grandchildren, Brenda Sheedy of Coal City, Ill., Brian (Robin) Ratcliff of Easton, Kan., Rhonda (Scott) Yetton of Fredericksburg, Va., Paul (April) Fosen of Seneca, Michael (Robynn) Fosen of Joliet, and Amy (Gregg) Sager of Morris; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Oct. 26, 1996; four sisters; and two brothers. Memorial gifts in Mrs. Ratcliff's memory can be directed to First United Methodist Church in Seneca or Casper After School Program.
