    "ISAAC G. CARDEN DIES IN SUMMERS
    "Father of Legislator and Confederate Survivor Is Taken
    "HINTON, March 2. - Funeral services for Isaac Green Carden, 91 years old, one of the three remaining Confederate veterans in Summers county, who died Tuesday night at the home of his son, B. Z. Carden, were held this afternoon. During the war he was a member of the Lowry battery. He made his home at Forest Hill, but the old Carden place, which was built 150 years ago, still stands at what is known as Greenbrier Springs. For 20 years he served as deputy sheriff of this county under the administrations of Harrison Gwinn, Harvey Ewart and others.
    "Mr. Carden was married four times, and was the father of 17 children. His last wife, Mrs. Eustacie B. Carden, survives with the following sons and daughters: Mrs. E. D. Ferrell, of Forest Hill; W. E. Carden, of Grand Ridge, Fla.; Mrs. M. V. Roles of Maringo, O.; J. P. Carden, of Talcott; B. Z. Carden, of Hinton; Mrs. Frank D. Lazenby, of Bluefield; M. E. Carden, of Wayside; Mrs. W. E. Allen, of Roanoke, Va.; Attorney Roscoe Carden and Miss Vera Carden, of Richmond, Va., and Otis Carden, of Mullens, a member of the present legislature.
    "The rites were held in the Methodist church with the pastor Rev. Charles L. DeLong; Rev., Henry Dillon, and Rev. E. W. Billings in charge. Burial followed at Forest Hill in the Woodson cemetery.
    "A delegation of five members of the house of delegates attended the funeral services, named at Charsleston yesterday by Speaker Hiner. They are Delegates Haynes, of Summers; Hickel, of Pleasants; Lilly of Raleigh; Harper, of Randolph, and Carrico, of Preston."
