      Joseph L. Riggins, Jr. May 16, 1925 - March 29, 2009 CATAULA, GA ? Joseeph L. Riggins, Jr., 83, of Cataula died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Reverend Roy White officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Riggins was born May 16, 1925 to the late Joseph Lawrence and Nannie Albert Thomason Riggins in Coffee County, Tennessee. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Riggins worked with The Krystal Restaurants and retired after 33 years of service as a manager. After his retirement he worked for several local super markets. He was a Master Mason and member of Rosehill Masonic Lodge #384, a Shriner, and Eastern Star #269. Mr. Riggins was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Nell Riggins; a sister, Mary Riggins, and a brother, Paul Eugene Riggins. Mr. Riggins is survived by two children, Larry Riggins of Columbus, GA, Debbie Hand of Cataula, GA; five grandchildren, Larry D. Riggins of Atlanta, Joseph L. Riggins of Atlanta, Cole L. Riggins of Columbus, Jeremy Hand of Columbus, Sherry Bowling and her husband, Doug of Ellerslie, GA; two great grandchildren, Kirsten and Kaylynne Bowling of Ellerslie, GA; a brother, Woodrow Riggins of Madison, TN; two sisters, Annie Lee Bowden of Tullahoma, TN, and Linda Smith of Normandy, TN.
