    Larkin never married. He owned a general store in Rutherford County at one time. He also loaned Edmund's daughter Eliza money after her first husband died. In 1866 she and her second husband George Mills deeded over the Mills plantation to Larkin in repayment, with the stipulation that if the debt was repaid by the end of that year, the land would revert to her.
