    Note:  Elias Turner was listed as the head of household on this census report, but there was no mark for him in the appropariate age column (30-40).  Obviously this was an error made by the census taker since Elias lived until sometime between 1840 and 1850.

  • Event: Land Lottery Land 1832 Cherokee County, Georgia
  • Note: In the 1832 Georgia Land Lottery, also known as the "Gold Lottery,"  Elias received land in the 10th District and 4th Section of the new Cherokee County.  Then in December 1832, Lumpkin County was created from Hall, Cherokee and Habersham Counties, most probably including the area in Cherokee County where his lottery land was located. 6
