Text: "The early settlers of this county suffered much from Indian depredations.  The following particulars were derived from old newspapers loaned to the compiler by Mr. Ralston, of Macon:
29th March, 1788—The Indians killed and scalped Lieutenant Hogan, near Kemp's Fort.  On Friday after, Mr. Daniell [John Daniel] met with the same cruel death; and shortly afterwards they killed Mr. David Jackson's family, consisting of his wife and four children, his brother and two negroes."
