30 Jan 1775 Freehold electors of Township of Nottingham, Burlington County. To House of Assembly. Situation between Great Britain and Colonies has reached alarming crisis; country may be involved in horrors of civil war; real interests of America best protected by loyalty to Great Britain; should meet some of expenses of government, for defense of Empire; disavow all violent proceedings against mother country; will prove selves loyal subjects of "His Gracious Majesty, George III." Daniel Hendrickson Joseph Schooley WILLIAM COALMAN John Abbott Thomas Lawrie Jesse Waln John Quicksall Isaac Quigley William Foord Gysbert Hendrickson Elijah Bond Robert Pearson Timoy. Abbott Jacob Cook Thomas Hutchinson John Cornish John Culp Isaac Pearson Joseph Tantum John Abbott, Jr.
Hmmm, Loyalist leanings. Assuming that this is the same William Coleman who did serve in the Rev. from Burlington Co, he certainly changed his mind. Note that this will give an original signature of this William.

I have posted this previously, but since it has been a while I will do it again. I'm still looking for any infomation about the father of my g-g-g-grandmother,William Coleman, who according to family legend may have been born in Newark, New Jersey. He evidently moved to Berks County, Pennsylvania, probably in the vicinity of Reading before the Revolutionary War broke out, as he served in the Berks County, PA, militia during the war. Also this is reportedly where Nancy, my g-g-g-grandmother was born. We've been unable to find any information about any of the family except John W., his daughter Phoebe, and Nancy. I'm hoping there is another Coleman descendant tracing the same line. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. I will be glad to exchange information and sources with you. --Ruth Tucker in Iowa rutucker@aol.com 1. William Coleman - & Mary Wilson - 1. John W.
