I. ROBERT ELLIOT CROCKETT
1. ROBERT ELLIOTT CR0CKETT, b. 1770, probably in Wythe County, Virginia; d. 1862, at Rose Hill, Lee County, Virginia; in. Elizabeth Gibson (b. 1791; d. 1871) of near Cumberland Gap, Virginia, and a daughter of Zachariah Gibson and Annie Smith. It is not known just where he was born, but he came from Wythe County, Virginia and settled in Lee County, near Cumberland Gap, before the Indians left. He was a man of great enterprise and a leader in all community affairs. He was not only a farmer and miller, but, in co-operation with George Rowe, developed a considerable iron works near Cumberland Gap. They made pig iron, which was hauled to Powell's River, where it was shipped on flatboats and sold at Chattanooga, Tennessee After Mr. Rowe's death, his interest was bought by Robert Elliott Crockett Sr., and Newton Evans, who had married Elizabeth Crockett, a daughter of Robert Elliott Crockett.
Gibson Station was named for Zachariah Gibson, who m. Annie Smith. Their children were: Johnson; George; James; Frank; Zachariah Jr.; Elizabeth, who married Robert Elliott Crockett; and Mary, who married a Mr. Coleman of Powell's River. The old log house which was first built by the Gibsons was weatherboarded and ceiled by J. M. Crockett (one of the descendants) in 1915. He afterwards went to McKinney, Texas, where he now resides.

Elizabeth; m. Newton Evans. 4. Andrew Jackson, b. 1829; d. 1878; m. Sarah Elizabeth Brown daughter of William Brown and Easter Gibson. 5. Harrison Brewster, b. 1831; d. 1912 at Rose Hill, Virginia; m. 1st, Catherine Ely, Nov. 11, 1856; she d. Feb. 5, 1878; Was a daughter of Hiram Ely and Keziah Bell. He m. 2nd, Letitia Ely, a cousin of his 1st wife.
