Member of Oldcastle MM in East Meath. A deed to his first property, purchased in Ireland from Ebenezer Pike of Cork, was dated Jan. 19, 1715, and was recorded in the Philadelphia deeds. The land was in Chester Co., located now across US Rt. 1 from Kennett Square, PA. This land was composed of 500 acres and reaches 1.6 north to Willowdale. Originally the land was part of the grant to William Penn and was sold to Joseph Pike on Oct. 21, 1701, and then to his brother Ebenezer Pike on Mar. 9, 1714. The Pikes may have been related to Thomas since their mother was Elizabeth Jackson before she married their father Richard Pike. Elizabeth was born in London in 1636 into a prominent family, "some of her connexions having been chief magistrates of that city."

The dominate industry of Ireland at that time was linen production, and Thomas was a linen draper. He was widowed in N. Ireland by the death of his first wife Mary Starkey. He came to Pennsylvania in 1717 and was received at Newark/Kennett MM on 7 Dec 1717 from Old Castle MM, County Meath. He was married a second timeon 25 Dec, 1718, at New Garden Meeting, to Mary Wiley of New Garden, probably a step-daughter of Thomas Lightfoot. The ceremony is described in the Quaker minutes as follows:

.....whom It May Concern That for ye full Accomplishing of Their Sd: Intentions this Twenty fifth day of ye 10 th/mo: caled December In ye Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred & Eighteen They ye Sd: Thomas Jackson & Mary Wily apeared In a Publick & [p.211] Solemn Assembly of ye afforesd: People & others Mett Together Att ye Publick Meeting house att New garden Afforesaid & In a Solem Manner he ye Sd: Thomas Jackson Taking her ye Sd Mary Wily by ye hand did openly Declare as followeth friends In ye fear of ye Lord & hefore This Assembly I Take this my friend Mary Wily To be my wife ****romising wt ye Lords Assistance To be Unto her a Loving & faithfull husband Until death Separate Us & Then & There ye Abovesaid Mary Wily Did declare friends In ye fear of ye Lord & in ye presence of this Assembly I Take Thomas Jackson to be my Husband Promising wt ye Lords Assistance To be unto him A Loving & faithful wife Untill death Separate us or words to This Effect & for a further Confirination thereof They ye Sd: Thomas Jackson & Mary Wily She according To ye Custom of Marriage Assuming ye Name of her Husband did Then and There Sett their hands & we whose Names are hereunto Written beeing Present Among others at ye Solemnization of their Sd: Marige & Subscription In manner afforesaid as witnesses hereunto have Also to These presents Subscribed our names ye day & year Above written:

The handwritten will of Thomas Jackson, dated Feb. 25, 1727, and probated in Chester Co. on Sept. 16, 1727, is in the possession of the Chester Co. Historical Society. His wife Mary and son Samuel were Executors, and his wife Mary was to have estate until his son Benjamin turned 21. His son Isaac is also named, as are "my two Sarvants Samuel Hughes and Elizabeth Driskle [£15]." His brother-in-law Michael Lightfoot and his cousin (first wife's nephew) Benjamin Fredd were overseers.
