"My husband & I found him (Charles Legan) listed on the 1787 taxes with Page Coleman who paid Charles' taxes. Perhaps George Legan (b. 1788) might have had a mother named Coleman, then again maybe Charles and Mary "Polly" Admire were married by a minister after George was conceived and born. They were married July 15, 1789 in Woodford Co., KY. In 1787 Page & Charles were living in Amelia Co., VA. In 1788 Page Coleman paid Charles' taxes in Fayette Co., KY and in 1789 Charles Legan and Page Coleman paid their taxes in July, side by side, on the same day. On this day Charles & Polly were already married. There is other proof that Charles and Page were close . . ." -- Betty Ann Legan Smith, March, 1998.

"Page Coleman owned land in Dinwiddie Co., VA 1782, 1783, 1784, 1785. There are no tax lists for 1786 -- why I do not know. . . . If you ever see a VA tax list or Census list for 1786, please let me know." -- Betty Ann Legan Smith, March, 1998.

"There is a '18 Mile Baptist Church Record Book" at Coffe Tree Rd. in Frankfort, KY. It mentions all of Charles Legan's children and wife and daughter-in-laws. 1818-1839 years I believe." -- Betty Ann Legan Smith, March, 1998.

"There were no Legan graves or markers on the "Charles Legan Farm" that Joseph and Eliz Kemper (owners) were aware of. The Legan-Kemper farms adjoined each other. It is believed to be in 2nd Ward City of Franklin, IN." -- Floyd K. Legan, Jr. Consequently, Floyd believes Charles and his sons Walker, Jacob and Louis are interred in the Bohannon Lane Cemetery in Oldham County, KY.
