    Copied from internet:
William Terrell and Susanna Waters were most likely cousins. William Terrell was described as "a tall, long, hungry, coarse man with bones vastly wanting of flesh, black hair and eyes, brows like two conjugal owls, a mouth like a poor man's louse, and a nose like an elephant's proboscis --- one
whole foot long. His voice was hard, keen, and loud, and bursted forth like the very elements with an unearthly sepulchural tone ... He was honest and respectable." In January 1706 William was living in the forks of the Pamunkey River in St. Paul's Parish, New Kent County, VA. The church vestry appointed William Harris to be the surveyor of a new road in the forks. William Terrell, on the south
side of the river, was ordered to assist Harris in clearing and making a road. The land between North Anna and South Anna Rivers near where they came together to form the Pamunkey was referred to as "the Forks." Other neighbors in the Forks were Captain Littlepage, John Blalock, Edward Garland, and Thomas Carr. William owned land on the Pamunka River, a small river passing between Richmond
and Fredericksburg, VA, and flowing into the Rappahannock River. The peninsula formed by the streams and the Potomac River make up the Northern Neck of Virginia. "There and thus he and his wife dug the round, made tobacco, bought Africans very low, and became independent."
Other land accumulated by Terrell included 300 acres on the southwest side of Polecat Swamp in King William County, 100 cultivated acres on the north side of the Pamunkey River in 1716, 400 acres in Polecat Swamp in 1717, 200 more acres in Polecat Swamp in 1718, and 400 acres on the north side of Polecat Creek in 1718. In all, William Terrell owned more than 1820 acres of property along Polecat Creek.
