I do not have much on the Mc Vey's other than the oral family legend and a little bit of documentation. The Mc Vey's and Wimberly's were my brickwall for sometime. I just could not ever find a definate answer for the right James Thomas Wimberly and Sarah Jane Mc Vey.

I don't even have any photos of the Mc Vey's or Wimberleys. Our family photos that had been accrued over the years have been scattered or pinched by relatives, 2 relatives namely, but I do not know of any Mc Vey or Wimberly photos ever having been in our little hot hands. That is the sad truth of it.

As for the Shaw tree, I have it in completeness back to the 1790's forward to today...and for the Wimberly tree, there is a missing son of James Thomas Wimberly and Sarah Jane Mc Vey...I will include all that I have. I know of this missing son from an 1850 census....with the Wimberly's and Shaw's being on neighboring farms. I would have to say for me, it was all luck in finding that bit of information. I am learning, slowly but surely.....the experts say to check the entire page of the census, not just stopping with the finding the folks you were looking for...and I just happened to remember that and scrolled down & listed below my Philp Rodbur Shaw was his neighboring farmers -The Wimberley's, with all but the daughter Mary listed and what would have have been the recently deceased James Thomas Wimberly....with Sarah Jane being listed as Widow Wimberly, if memory serves correctly...but all her other children were listed there. I will share that census with you as well. I am going to import it into the gedcom, if luck holds, for you to see.

I don't know if I told you in my first letter, I have just been back from Sweden a week now...from visiting the family over there that I found. It was so wonderful ! I had found the missing link to my Strombergs back in November of 2005, on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon. Over the last year and a half, my cousin I found there helped me find the other missing branch, the Janssson's ! I just cannot find words to express how much it meant to me and the utter wonderfulness of it all. They were so happy to have been found...and for so many years had hoped they would be able to trace the US family, but with no luck. They had 2 big family reunions while I was there, one for each branch, and I was treated like royalty. They took me to the old family farms, the church where everyone is baptized, married and buried from, to the old family cemeteries....it was just surreal ! I never thought I would be able to have anything similar happen....and then Lorrie found me while I was in Sweden ! Lorrie was the link to the one Shaw daughter that I could never find hide nor hair of.....then she told me of her link to you...filling out my missing Mc Vey and Wimberly branches !! I should go get a lottery ticket ! I feel so lucky and blessed....and I know through God there are no coincidences. Had I known it was all going to fall in place while in Sweden, I would have gone sooner !!! Lori Callaway

#2039 CLARK Phillip 65 inn keeper Eng, (his family), John McVease 13 IL.

I am forwarding the copy of the 1850 census for you. More on Philip Rodber/Rodbur Shaw...
Philip Rodbur Shaw II (middle name as spelled in England...his grandmother's maiden name) born 23 Sep 1825 Sherbourne, Somerset Shire, England died 16 Feb 1905 Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa, USA

As for the 1850 Census, you never would have found Jane Wimberly... the mother... she is listed under her son Alex, that no one but me seems to have anything on and she is listed as 'Widow Wimberly".
Philip R Shaw is listed on line 26, his hired hand on line 27 and the Wimberleys begin on line 28 and go through 32 as Abigail aka Sarah Abigail Wimberly.

According to the amount of value listed for land, Philip had to have come to America with his inheritance, since he obivously did not want to wait for his mother to die before taking charge of the family estate in England... and it was quite large 310 acres. It took them 10 hired men, and 2 boys to work the land.... listed in the English census records, not including the household help. Yes, I have those records too. As I said, I had done the British branch pretty far back including the parents and some of the grandparents for Philip Rodbur Shaw II.... and the 1st as well. It was the Mc Vey's and Wimberly's that eluded me.

I have attached the 1850 census here for you. It was one of my favorite finds.... having them being listed next to each other, it answers the question as to how they met and married. Cousin Lori
