    He completed the march to California and re-enlisted in Captain Davis's company in Los Angeles, July 16, 1847. He listed his age at re-enlistment as 19, so he was born about 1828. He may have died in California before 1850 as he cannot be found on any U.S. census. ~Vern Taylor

    In 1846 in Council Bluffs, Iowa Territory, Andrew enlisted in the Mormon Battalion. He marched with the battalion from Council Bluffs to Ciudad de los Angeles. From March 1847 to April 1847 the muster rolls listed him as being sick. Andrew was discharged on 16 July 1847. Four days later he reenlisted in the Mormon Volunteers and served an additional eight months. Beginning on 10 August 1847 he was on detached service assignment as ordered by Colonel Stevenson. He was last paid on 31 October 1847, even though he was not mustered out until 14 March 1848 in San Diego. At the time of his discharge the government still owed him $6.16.
