Hugh , thanks for the additional info, Regret i seem to be having problems
opening that big file that came with the e-mail!, just keep going round in
circles can you help? attached here is Fathers Brother - Harry - and his wife
who i knew as Aunty Maude, they had sons, one was Ron, the other ??? Ron - s
sons were slightly younger than me eg may be around 48-50 now , i also have
pics Ron serving in N. Africa in ww2, MY father spoke of brother Lewis, AND
sister Kate , one or both may have migrated to Canada before the War.
Thanks for your lengthy email, herewith are family history details that I can remember
Albert Edward Conroy born 1889 - died 1967, had brothers
Harry died mid 60s
Louis died unknown dates
sister Kate died unknown dates
nephew Ron - may still be alive - had a least 2 sons - late 40s early 50s ( I met Ron and his family back around 64 but we never socialised with them, he maybe in his late 70s/80s and always lived in Bristol. Apart from that I have virtually nothing.
Some of the brothers eg. Louis, may have emigrated to Canada. My fathers parents I believe lived in Bristol but I have no idea on names, dates etc. Anything you can dig up would be very interesting (I know my father was married before and I believe his first wife was killed at the same time that my father was severely injured by bomb blast )- could have been living in
Bath at the time .
When I was very young I remember visiting a very elderly lady who was bedridden and Ihave an idea she may have been his mother-in-law but thats where the trail peters out. I still have a gut feeling that there may have been a half sister or brother but I cant be sure. I can only remember my father talking frequently about this - fictitious - person named Lucille, but I was never sure if this was real or not.
You can look at - artfair.com.au - which will take you to the dedicated web site. The art show is now closed and Im not sure how long the site will be active.
Thank you also for advising me on UK pensions, I have never given a thought so if you are able to get addresses that would be good. I have also taken your advice and sent you my bank account details in a recorded airmail letter (which you should receive in around 7 days). Shouldnt be any problems, I agree the internet is not secure.
Its amazing what you have been able to find regarding family history. We also have cable modems here which came in earlier this year but there is no way I can afford the terms. eg. even basic pay TV here is ridiculously expensive and you have to pay for additional channels (most of these are the ones I would want first!!!!)
Thats all for now
good luck with your projects
