WILSON -- Anne Stuart Barnette Byrum, 57, died early Saturday in her home, after an extended illness.

She was born in Person County to Haywood and Musette O'Briant Barnette. Anne graduated from Greensboro College and UNC-Charlotte in the field of education. She taught in Albemarle city schools and more recently was a teacher and curriculum specialist at Darden-Vick School in Wilson until retirement in October.

Rite of Christian burial, Monday, 3:30 p.m., St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. Committal, church cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Philip R. Byrum; sons and their wives, Robert Stuart and Barbara Smith Bryum, of Durham, John Keith and Lori Boone Byrum, of Wilmington; her mother, Mrs. H.S. Barnette, Sr., of Roxboro; and brother, Haywood S. Barnette, Jr., of Roxboro.

The family will be in the common room at the church today 7-8:30 and other times, at the home on Cambridge Road.
