    Evelyn Baines Byrum, 88, of the 100 block of Gene Ave., a retired saleswoman and insurance agent, died Oct. 14, 1992, in a nursing home.
    Mrs. Byrum was born in Nansemond County. She was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church.
    Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Jordan of Suffolk; and two sisters, L. O'Niel Grubbs of Newport News and J. Mildred Martin of Virginia Beach.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Cypress Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. John Kimball and the Rev. Willis Dowling. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
    Memorial donations may be made to the church's memorial fund or to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad.

    SUFFOLK - Evelyn Baines Byrum, 88, a Nansemond County native, died Wednesday, Oct. 14.
    She retired as an insurance agent and saleswoman. Mrs. Byrum was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church, its Ladies' Bible class and the women's fellowship.
    Survived by a daughter, Ruth Jordan of Suffolk; and two sisters, Lillian O. Grubbs of Newport News and Johnnie M. Martin of Virginia Beach.
    Visitation at 132 Gene Ave. Funeral at 2 p.m. Friday at Cypress Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. John Kimball. Burial in church cemetery.
    Memorials to Cypress Chapel Christian Church Memorial Fund, 1891 Cypress Chapel Road, Suffolk 23438; or the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk 23434.
