Our GEDCOM focuses mainly on direct ancestors of my wife and me. I also have lines who were believed to be ancestral but later found to be unlikely.

  • ID: I24140
  • Name: William Bull
  • Sex: M
  • Change Date: 20 DEC 2013
  • Birth: ABT 1734 in Halifax Co., NC 1 2
  • Birth: ABT 1736 in Halifax Co., NC 3 4
  • Death: SEPT 1789 in Johnston Co., NC 4
  • Note:
William is not named in the 1763 will of Thomas Bull Sr. Several researchers, including my correspondents and descendants of Thomas Bull Sr., give William Bull as the youngest son of Thomas Bull Sr. I have found only one source for any data on William Bull besides a "guesstimate" for his birth: LDS Pedigree Resource File submission ID MMD8-46L contributed by an unnamed person on 10 Nov 2013. It has that he died Sept. 1789 in Johnston Co., NC. It gives an "Ancestry Family Tree" as its source. Johnston Co. was formed in 1746 from Craven Co.

I searched the LDS North Carolina historical records for a William Bull who d. in NC in 1785-1795. The applicable results turned up only the marriage record for William BULLS & Rebeckah Capse on 25 Oct 1785 at Johnston Co., NC. I believe the BULLS family is not the same as the BULL family and this marriage record is not for the subject William Bull. I have read of a large BULLS family in Johnston Co., NC, and therefore suspect the Sept. 1789 death was for a William BULLS instead. Until I can support my suspicion I will leave that death for the subject William Bull.

At this moment (Dec. 2013), William Bull is my leading candidate for the father of my Bull patriarch ancestor, John Bull Sr. of Granger Co., TN, and Knox Co., KY. The reason is that there are MANY William Bulls who descend from my patriarch and the subject William is the right age. But, my patriarch had no surviving son named William,

Father: Thomas Bull Sr. b: BEF 1700 in England

A moderate portion of my data has been verified. The bulk was compiled from other sources, with consideration for the authority of the source, consistency with data from other sources, and reasonableness. Comments, corrections and upgrades are very much welcomed.
