Our GEDCOM focuses mainly on direct ancestors of my wife and me. I also have lines who were believed to be ancestral but later found to be unlikely.

    I believe Jane was the age 10-19 female in her father's 1865 Calhoun Co., IL, census household. Age 8 b. MO Ann J. Turnbull was listed in her father's 1860 Pulaski Co., MO, census household. Jane Turnbull age 18 b. MO is listed in her parent's 1870 Fulton Co., AR, household. I have a digital image of Jane and nephews, Theodore & Buddy Turnbull, that was sent to me by Frann Joice. Frann has Jane's married name was "Drumwright". Ann J. Turnbull married William A. Drumright in Howell Co., MO, on 13 Feb 1873, the same place that Jane's father married his 2nd wife a month later on 8 Mar 1873.

    Voda Glinn Mason wrote me that her great-grandmother, Mary Jane Quintillion Turnbull, married Wm. Allen Drumright (of Bedford Co., TN). Voda's aunt Bessie Glinn told her that Jane was 1/2 Cherokee and went by several names. Voda stayed with her aunt all summer from age 10 to 15 and heard a lot about her family from her aunt, who had many photos, that are lost as she had no children. Voda will contact another aunt, who is age 94 and lives nearby, for more about any Cherokee ancestry.

    Alice Downen Smith, daughter of Oda Ethel (Drumright) Downen, niece and namesake of Jane's daughter, was born in West Plains, Howell Co., MO. Alice said in 2003 that she remembers her great-grandma Jane holding her at age 3 in 1935 on her lap. She was told that Jane was a sickly child who was born in IL (probably MO, per above) and that her parent's moved to the mountains of northern AR when Jane was young. Alice also said Jane was quite a character in that she could tell fortunes and make tables walk.
