    He is likely the William J. Griffin whose household, with wife Mary alone, is listed nearby the household of likely brother Asa M. Griffin in the 1850 Forsyth Co., GA, census. He had moved his family to Morgan Co., AL, by 1860. He again moved his family to Tishomingo Co., MS, by the 1872 birth of daughter Mary Elizabeth Griffin. Both he and Asa married in Cherokee Co., GA, situated next to Forsyth Co. They also lived near each other in Morgan Co. Forsyth Co. was formed from part of the Cherokee Nation in 1832, next to Hall Co.

    Some researchers have the subject William and his wife Mary as the parents of a Sarah Aurelia Griffin (b. 1861 GA). I have accounted for all 9 of their children numbered in the 1900 census, per my notes for wife Mary.
