!Plummer Sevey was born in Shullsburg, Lafayette Co. Wisconsin Apr. 19,1850. Came by Wagontrain to Calif. 1853. Raised in St. Louis, Calif. high in The Sierras, Plummer became an expert teamster and in 1880 was not only ranching on his own homestead but was driving stage between Marysville and La Porte. Plummer sold off his Homestead in 1886 to McIntyre and homesteaded an acre of land at Moore's Station (became Honcut) in Butte County where he built a small frame house. His first wife Mary Ellen Delaney, died of an ovarian tumor in 1889. As a widower with two children he married Calla Hinkle in 1891 at Brownsville, Calif. and raised a girl and two boys. Alice, born 1892, Ed born 1894, and Gilman, born 1904. In 1906 Plummer moved his family to Oroville and was a driver for the City Stables operated by Fry, He was also the designated driver for the Hearse. In 1915, Plummer and Calla bought a 20 acre ranch on the outskirts of Gridley. He was always a teamster and had a great love for horses which he raised. Plummer died of a fatal heart attack Apr 27, 1927 after a huge breakfast, family said he had been suffering from acute indigestion. He was 77 years old. Mentioned in the published history of Yuba County as owning 160 acre homestead in Long Bar Twnshp. c.1885. . MARRIAGE RECORDS: (1) 3 Feb 1875 to Mary Delaney, by B.W. Removed to Yuba County, Jul 21, 1875. Removed to Butte County 1886.
