Note: In 1769 he settled in Fairfax Manor on Patterson's Creek Hampshire Co. VA (Mineral Co. WV) a little s of what is now the town of Burlington. Wm owned some 1600 a in Fairfax Manor as well as 180 a on New Creek where his son John lived. His homestead was called 'Oak Hill' and was later his son Samuel's home. Some of Wm and Eliz specific land purchases were 529 a on Patterson's Creek (1771) 180 a on New Creek (1779) 142 a on Alleghany Mt (1790) 561 a on Patterson's Creek (1790) 150 a on Abraham's Creek on Allegheny Mt and 176 a on Allegheny Mt (1797).
