  • ID: I0092
  • Name: Timothy Cooper
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: in England
  • Death: MAR 1659 in Lynn, Ma. 1
  • Note: Timothy was a resident of Lynn, Ma as early as 1737. He was one of the signers of a petition dated May 25, 1655 seeking approval of a new plantation to be named Groton. He was appointed one of the selectman of Groton for two years starting in 1665. Although the setting up of the town of Groton was approved in 1655 it was some years later before any of the proprietors settled there. Town records were not kept until June 1662. It appears that Timothy never moved to Groton, having died in 1659 at Lynn. At least two of his children, Mary and Timothy, resided in Groton. Son Timothy was killed by as the caravan of refugees was bushwhacked as it was was abandoning Groton after its destruction in April 1676 by Indians. Groton was again populated after the close of King Phillip's War and daughter Mary lived there as the wife of Joseph Gilson.
