The MESSMOREs have been for nearly a century and a half prominent in Fayette county life. From the days of their hardy Swiss ancestors there have been prosperous farmers, public officials and professional men of the name in every generation. The first of the name went to defeat under Washington at Braddock's Field, while in the present three of the name of this branch alone are engaged in the practice of medicine in Fayette county.
