Thanks to everyone who has shared info. This database includes many families...not all directly related to one another. All information has been entered manually (not imported). To err is human, but I strive for accuracy. My main focus is on Shulers (& alternate spellings), especially in early SC/NC/GA/TN/VA/MD & PA, and their descendants!

  • Note:
    James was the third son of Henry BRAY & Sarah YOKLEY (mentioned third in Henry's 1812 will, which appears to list the children from oldest to youngest).

    Most of these children for James Bray are not proven, but are probable, and he may have had others, including a John. Census records show that he had a very large family (at least 7 sons and 5 daughter), but he did not mention his children's names in his will. Some researchers believe that Matthew, Samuel and Elijah Bray, who moved with their families to Henderson Co., TN, were James' brother Eli BRAY's sons, but it is more likely that they were James'.
