Note: Thomas H. Travers
His father returned to England last year (1878) He began work under the most advese circumstances, being chained down by poverty, but by indomitable pluck of energy and business judgement they have succeeded until now they own 835 acres of land, 770 of it lying in this county. The father and son have always worked together as partners. Thomas has been to California where he has worked in the gold mines. He has a coal bank on his farm here out of which he annually takes 32,000 bushels of coal. He is rather extensively engaged in the manufacture of cider, making from 30,000 to 50,000 gallons each season. 5

Abbrev: Tavers Author: Geraldine G. Publication: Nov 15, 2002 Note: Hello Kay,
I saw an entry from you on a list, which I think was from Ancestry.com - though I haven't been able to find that same list again !
The entry mentioned Charles Travers who married Jane Hutchins. I know a little about Charles Travers, but nothing about Jane Hutchins.
Charles Travers was born in Chetnole on 2.1.1811 and baptised at Yetminster on 27.1.1811, son of Robert and Ann Travers. Charles married Jane Hutchins at Burton Bradstock, where that Travers family branch was subsequently living. One of their sons was Thomas Hunt Travers, baptised at Burton Bradstock on 10.3.1839. The 'Hunt' part came from his maternal grandmother, who had been an Ann Hunt of Leigh. Ann's sister, Sarah Hunt of Leigh, married my ancestor - Robert's brother John, bapt. 17.5.1772, at Loders. So it was a case of two brothers marrying two sisters.
I would be interested to have some more details on this line of the Travers family (I know the names of Charles and Ann's children) and in exchange I could pass on more details of the Travers family, if you are interested.
Regards, Geraldine in Surrey
