According to "Hopewell Friends History," Evan Thomas Sr. married Catherine, and his son Evan Thomas Jr. married Albenach Ross. I can only surmise that somewhere along the line, these two Evans were mixed up. Given Mary's birthdate, the father is probably Evan Sr., as shown here, especially considering that Albenah Ross was not born until 1720.

"Hiatt-Hiett Genealogy and Family History" by W. P. Johnson. Also mentions this marriage and that Mary was son of Evan Jr. This is probably the source of the IGI and AF entries, and is almost certainly an error, from an assumption based on the original marriage record, which only named her father as "Evan Thomas" and did not mention a mother.
