1891 Baptismal record for St. Joseph's church in Oconto for "Clarence Cornelius Van Essen" says born 13 Nov 1891.
1895 census, Oconto County, Wisconsin, shows 2 males, who must be the father, John, and son, Clarence.
1900 census, Breitung Twp, Dickinson County, Michigan, says born Nov 1892 in Wisconsin, which is off by a year.
Death record and grave marker says born 1894 (but I think the informant, son William, misremembered Clarence's brith year).
Social Security Death Index says born 13 Nov 1892.
Married on 28 Jan 1917 in Brainerd by a minister of the Peoples Church and moved to Kenosha, WI soon after. Moved back to Brainerd about 1921, and Clare's, sister, Edie, says their mother, Florence, insisted that the marriage be blessed by the local Catholic priest at that time.
Brainerd Dispatch local notes item in Feb 1916 said he arrived in town from Green Bay to manage the local Woolworth's store.
