ID: I250
Name: William Robbins
Sex: M
Birth: 02 Aug 1778 in Dunstable, New Hampshire?
Death: 30 Dec 1836 in Craftsbury, Vermont
Change Date: 18 Nov 2007
Note: Birthdate of 02 Aug 1778 from "George Robbins in Chelmsford, Mass., 1666" by Isaac Gilbert Robbins, p. 16 (LDS film #1036069 "Robbins Genealogical Collections"). Birthplace said just "Dunstable" (no state).
The above Collection placed William as the son of John Robins (b. 1727) and Sarah Davis. However, the will of John Robbins, filed and proved in 1800, does not list William, so he is not a child of this John Robbins. But if he was born in Dunstable to John and Sarah Robbins, the Robbins Genealogical Society may have attached him to the wrong John and Sarah.
There is a John Robbins who married a Sarah Gilson, both of Groton, in 1763. In 1772, a John Robbins of Dunstable, New Hampshire (probably this John) sold land to John Robbins of Westford, Massachusetts (who would be his uncle, brother of his father, Benjamin). Since Sarah's brother, David, was living in the same area in the 1790 census, it would be reasonable for Sarah and her husband to be living there as well.
A supplement in the above Collection lists Williams' children and the children of his sons.

Marriage in VT VR is 16 Nov 1800, but George Robbins genealogy by Isaac Gilbert Robbins and the Morse Genealogy of 1903/05 both have 16 Jun 1800. June makes more sense, since first child, Ansel, was born in Feb 1801.
