MRS. DEFRANCE DIES AT HER HOME   HERE AT 94 YEARS OF AGE
Funeral Services to be Held   at Cathedral, Time Has       Not Been Set
Death this morning put an end to "Grandma" DeFrance's greatest hope, to celebrate her 100th birthday. She would have been 94 years old on May 9, and until recently was unusually active for her age. Each birthday found her surrounded by friends and relatives whom she entertained with anecdotes of pioneer days and on each occasion she expressed the wish to live to be 100.
Mrs. DeFrance died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William F. Holland, 815 Doty st, with whom she had made her home for the past 14 years. She was born in Holland May 9, 1838, and upon coming to America located in Oconto, Wis., in 18786. She lived there 28 years, then moved to Iron Mountain where she remained ten years, before moving to Green Bay. Mr. DeFrance died six years after they came to Green Bay.
Seventy descendants survive Mrs. DeFrance. There are four children, Mrs. J. P. Van Essen, town of Howard; Mrs. Holland and Mrs. Michael Bettine, Green Bay, and one son John, West DePere, also 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Miller, Los Angeles Cal., 87 years old, whom she went to visit six years ago, making the trip out West and back again by automobile, with Mr. and Mrs. Holland. One son Charles died here two years ago. Father Bongers, pastor of St. Willebrord's church in 1886 was her brother.
Mrs. DeFrance was a member of St. Ann's society of St. Francis Xavier cathedral. The funeral will be held from the Catherdral but the time has not yet been set. The body is at Mohr's Funeral home.
