When coming to America, Johanna used the surname Rydén. See notes for mother, Christina, for the discussion about that.

[begin quote from Crow Wing County Historical Society Bellmuth Vertical File 260]

    BELLMUTH, MR. & MRS. ADAM
Given by their daughters / Recorded by Rose Parker / June 1937

... married Johanna, daughter of Swan (sic) and Christina (sic) Redeen (sic) of Sweden. The parents came to America in June of 1877, but Johanna had arrived even earlier. She came to Duluth and was employed there for some time, and then came to Brainerd in 1875. She was born in Sweden in 1846, Mar 18th. Died at 223 No. 2nd Nov 19, 1932 of apoplexy.

    Five children were born to Adam and Johanna;

    A-1-Anna---Born in Duluth, January 29, 1873...

    [end quote]

But Anna was born in 1874 and Harry in 1878...

[begin quote from Brainerd Dispatch November 19, 1932]

    MRS. H. BELLMUTH
    PIONEER CITIZEN
    IS TAKEN BY DEATH

The thinning ranks of pioneer residents today had been deprived another highly respected and well known citizen with the death of Mrs. Hannah Bellmuth.
Mrs. Bellmuth died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. J. Wolvert, 223 North Second street, early Saturday. She had been in failing health for a number of years but her death did not become imminent until late last week.
The deceased was 86 years old. She had been a resident of Brainerd for the last 57 years,
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. P. J. Wolvert and Mrs. Bert O'Brien of Brainerd; Mrs. Earl Thompson of International Falls and Mrs. Anna Crowell, of Alameda, Calif; one son, Harry Bellmuth, 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Emil Eckholm, of Brainerd.
Funeral services weill be held at 2 o'clock Monday in the Whitney funeral chapel. The Rev. Alexander Patterson, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

    [end quote]

1900 census (see husband notes) said she was born in Mar 1848, immigrated in 1871, and had 5 children, 5 of whom were still living. Johanna apparently didn't count the stillborn twin of Harry born in 1878.

A message was posted in 1999 to the Crow Wing County message board at RootsWeb asking about the Bellmuth family (specifically the wife Johanna and her mother Christina and sister Emma). It was from John Rhodes, who along with his sister Mary, possessed an autograph book belonging to their great-grandmother. That book contained signings by the children of Johanna referring to their great-grandmother as a cousin. I was able to give them more information which they provided to a researcher who eventually found the family in the churchbook for the church in the village of Östra Torsås located about 18 km south-southeast of Växjö in the county of Kronoberg in Småland province, in southern Sweden.
