    At a Council held at Newbern 8th October 1748: William Ric's 300 New Hanover, Frederick Isler 400 Craven, John Gatlin 100 Craven, Nathan Smith 250 Do, Jacob Hanshey 200 New Hanover, Thomas Dudley 400 Carteret. Granted. Mr. Lovet exhibited in Council a Patent in the name of Robert Jermain and Thomas Smith for three hundred Acres of Land in Craven County dated the first day of July 1738 praying in regard the same being much torn and rendered unintelligible another patent may be made out to the Patentees agreeable to the Record thereof, which was Granted and Ordered that the Secretary make a Transcript of the said Patent from the Record accordingly.

    1751 (1 Apr.) - Blanden Co. (Now Moore), NC. Original Grant 405 acres to NICHOLAS SMITH: In Blanden County, on Buck (McLendon's) Creek, making of the side of the Deep River. Beginning at a white oak, and running thence S78E, 240 pole; thence N12W, 300 poles; thence N78W, 240 poles; thence S12E 300 poles to the beginning. Nicholas Smith sold this property 5 May 1752 to Thomas Collins for L30 Virginia currency it measured 330 acres. Thomas Collins sold 225 acres to ROBERT DICKERSON on 21 Feb 1758 for L55 proclamation. Nicholas Smith of Baden for L30 VA money to Thomas Collins of same ? 450 acres south of Deep River on Buck Creek whole of patent it being land and plantation where on said Nicholas Smith settled and cleared on. Wit. Thomas Richardson, Robert Love. Cumberland Co., NC Deed Book 2 pg 16. In Cheek, Linda. 1993 Smith Wills and Deeds & Family Histories. P.126. [JB note: The above two are different transcriptions of the same record. The first says adjoining Nicholas Smith. I presume that there was a second parcel, thus when Robert Dickerson bought the property in 1758, he and Nicholas Smith became neighbors]

    1761 (11 Jul.) Moore Co., NC. MICHAEL DICKERSON to John Pate 100 acres on the Little River where John Pate now lives. Begining at white oak; running thence S 70W, 127 poles to a pine; thence N10E, 127 poles; thence N70E, 127 poles; thence S10W, 127 poles to the begining. Granted to Charles Hurd March 6, 1759. Wit.: James Ainsworth & John Overton. Book B. p 138. In Rassie E. Wicker. Miscellaneous Ancient Records of Moore County, N.C. p.12. This same property was sold by John Pate to William Narremoore on 28 Sep. 1762 and by William Narremoore to Edward Narremoore on 13 Feb. 1764 and by Edward Narremoore to Nicholas Smith on 14 May 1764. Nicholas Smith held the title until 25 Nov. 1771 when he sold the property to John Black. There is a dam associated with the property called "[Nicholas] Smith's Mill Dam." In Rassie E. Wicker.
