Probate September 1711 in Surry County, Virginia

Suite of Jno. Kippen against Noah Barefoot, 200 pounds Tobo. with Caske

Noah Barefoot & Wm. Huggins security for Bartho: Brittles, orphans of the estate of Jno. Fiveash, decd.

BAREFOOT - BAREFOOT, NOAH Born ca 1650's married GRACE JOHNSON, served in the Surry County militia 1682 and 1687 . He is constantly in the court records from 1682 until his death in 1711. He had several children. I only know the names of HOLLERA (or HILLICA married JOHN DORTCH) JOHN BAREFOOT, & NOAH BAREFOOT, I am sure there were others but I do not know their names. GRACE JOHNSON'S g parents were MAUDLIN CREED & MARMADUKE BECKWITH, her parents were GRACE BECKWITH & MARTIN JOHNSON.After NOAH BAREFOOT died GRACE JOHNSON BAREFOOT married THOMAS BEDDINGFIELD. I think possibly NOAH BAREFOOT's father may have been GEORGE BAREFOOT of Charles City County, who died in 1677 I do not know his wifes name but after his death she married HENRY PRESTON. To my knowledge the only BAREFOOT in this new colony of Virginia in 1625 that could have been GEORGE BAREFOOT'S father was WILLIAM BAREFOOT, who was brought over in 1625 as an endentured servant for JOHN BURROWS. Does anybody out there have any information they could share with me or give me some direction on which way to go to tie my family together.

Hillica Barefoot, named in the will of her grandfather Martin Johnson as daughter of Noah Barefoot, was the daughter of Martin's daughter Grace Johnson. Grace was named admx. in 1711 and had already remarried to Thomas Beddingfield. Also a Noah Barefoot was named as surity for Grace. Other researchers and I have no proof of any other children, but at this point believe that Noah Barefoot and Grace Johnson had children Hillica, John, Noah, and possibly a William and Miles. William and John show up in Bertie Co. NC by 1728. No more on William after that. John has children John, Noah, Jeptha, Elizabeth, and Mary, that we know of. John lived in Dobbs/Wayne Co. NC and died in 1804. His will names all his brothers and sisters as heirs. Noah settled in Duplin/Johnston Co. NC and had children Noah, John, Miles, Charity, Grace, Mary. This John moved to SC. Miles moved to GA then his widow Hester Bryan Barefoot is on the census in Leon Co. FL. Noah remains in Johnston Co. NC and has sons Noah, John, Miles, and girls Charity and Mary. There was also a George Barefoot who moved to SC by 1749 and had sons William and Noah. He was from Lunenburg Co. VA.
