  • Note: Vincennes Sun-Commercial (IN) - August 10, 2005 Obituaries - Wednesday, August 10, 2005 Bruce Eugene Bilskie, 75, 731 S. Ninth St., died at 8:01 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born June 6, 1930, in Knox County, he was the son of Louis and Mary (Carie) Bilskie. On Nov. 25, 1953, he married Marquita Ann (Miller) Bilskie. He had been a bar tender, attended St. John Catholic Church, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was Korean War veteran. He was affectionately known by his neighbors as "the mayor of Ninth Street." He loved his grandchildren and always had a soft spot in his heart for children. He made up care packages on Christmas and other holidays and took them to the children at the hospital. Survivors include his wife, Marquita Ann Bilskie of Vincennes; two daughters and their spouses, Vickie and Jerry Puffer of Vincennes and Debbie and Tony Clements of Vincennes; three grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two brothers, Robert Bilskie of Vincennes and Leonard Bilskie of Vincennes and two sisters, Irene Brand of Vincennes and Lucille Wesner of Russellville, Ill. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Maurice Bilskie, Louis Bilskie Jr., Callista Catt and Tom Bilskie. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Fredrick and Son Funeral Home, 313 Church St., by the Rev. Dave Fleck. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Clements, Josh Clements, Tony Clements, Jerry Puffer, James Bilskie and Aaron Pearison. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvis Lane and Jim Miller. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where a vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a children's charity of the donor's choice
