    ROBERT WILLIAM HARDY, (6--2), of Lowndes Co., Ala., and later of Jasper Co., Miss., b. Sept. 25, 1810, in Edgefield District, S.C.; d. March 1, 1889, at Ellisville, Miss. He was a successful planter, and a staunch supporter of the Baptist Church; m. (first) Aug. 12, 1830, in Lowrides Co., Ala., Temperance L. Toney, b. Oct. 25, 1813, in Greenville Co., S.C.; d. Sept. 16, 1877, at Paulding, Miss.; dau. of Charles and Margaret (Hamilton) Toney, of Ala. and gr.-dau. of Thomas and Temperance (Arnold) Hamilton, of Virginia. Thomas Hamilton served with distinction in the Revolutionary War, as did the brothers of Temperance. Edward, John, Thomas, Hendrick and William Arnold, were all gallant defenders of the rights of the Colonies. (Second) Carrie Chapman. Issue by first marriage:
