  • Note: James R. Flack Sr. James Robert Flack, Sr., 93, passed away April 5, 2008, at his home in Ray town, MO. Jim was born to James A. and Rose Etta (Van Zandt) Flack on September 16, 1914 in T oledo, Ohio. The family moved to Kansas City on a bus in 1928 and he later graduated from Nor theast High School in 1933. Jim remained active with his 1933 Northeast Alumni. He served i n the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was a member of the L.S.M. So ciety and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Raytown resident for 57 yea rs and worked in over-the-road sales, predominately for Fruehauf Trailers. Jim was a member o f Temple Gate Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Kansas City, and Ararat Shrine Te mple. At Ararat, Jim was active with the former Raytown Shrine Club, and was a member of th e Mini Model T's Unit for many years. He also was a dedicated volunteer for Ararat's Hospita l Committee, driving patients and their families to and from the St. Louis Children's Hospita l, and also volunteered to collect funds to help send children to the Shrine Circus. For seve ral years, he volunteered his time at Cave Spring in Raytown and enjoyed genealogy work. Ji m was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Dorothy Mae Stanley Flack; and siblin gs, Thomas Flack, Vesta Flack, and Mary Ellen Myers. Survivors include his four children, Jam es R. Flack, II. (and wife Linda) of Plano, TX, Mary Susan Stover (and husband Jim) of Sparks , NV, Dr. Mark E. Flack (and wife Pat) of Lee's Summit, MO and Nancy Jane Loman of Kansas Cit y, MO. He also leaves six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildr en; a sister, Jane Flack of Warrenton, MO; and a brother, Richard Flack (and wife Carol) of B uffalo Grove, IL. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, and Masonic Se rvices at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the Park Lawn Chapel, Hillcrest Road at 83rd Street, Ka nsas City. Burial with military honors will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lie u of flowers, you may honor Jim with a memorial contribution to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Tr ansportation Fund, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.
