    "James Galloway signed Association, 1775. 2nd Lt. (commissioned. 21 Feb 1778 in Capt. Francis Smith's Woodbury Clove Co., of Col. Jesse Woodhull's Regt. In Rev. War. He and his son James carted links of the "great Chain" used by Wahington's forces to obstruct the Hudson River above West Point. from Sterling Furnace to new Windsor with ten yoke of oxen.
    "His house and farm, said by Ruttenber & Clark to be at Rye Hill, one mi. so. of Monroe, valued at $800 on tax list of 20 Sep 1799. He bought 250 acres (all of Cheescocks #4, one mi. no. of present Harriman) for 700 on 9 Jan 1801 [wit. George Galloway (#3-13 ) and James S. (#3-11)- his nephews]." Source: Dutch Col.
