Note: son of Memucan Hunt and Mary Wade (died 1778 in Bute NC)
Memucan, in his will probated 1808, mention's John Hunt's children, but does not name them. See Andrea II: John Hunt's Will, signed 8 Apr. 1807 and probated Dec. Court, 1807. Names all of his children by first wife (not named) and by "last wife" Mary Hunt. (nee Jeffreys). "John Stallings of Bute Co., N.C. A deed signed 3 Nov. 1770 to James Hunt of Bute Co., N.C., 100 acres of land and it being part of 640 acres granted originally to Osborn Jeffreys who on the 27 July 1761 sold same to Stallings. Witnesses: James Dendy, Kesiah Dendy & Charity Dendy."
family records which states that John Hunt married Mary Jeffries in 1779 giving birth date of John as 5 Aug. 1755. Children listed are Betsy born 18 Feb 1780, Nathaniel born 7 Dec 1782, Amaryllis born 16 Mar. 1784, Patience born 9 Nov 1789, James born13 Mar 1792, Willis Hunt 26 Feb 1795, John Hunt 24 Oct. 1797, and Alfred Hunt born 10 Jan 1801. the above is a correct transcript of the births and deaths of my father, mother, brothers and sisters takrn from the family records, this 3rd of February 1841 in my own handwriting. (Signed) Nathaniel Hunt There is also nother child fro James Henry and Elizabeth ann Hunt; Mary Iola Hunt born 23 June 1860, died 29 Oct, 1884, married James T. Meek 16 Aug 1883.
