On 14 Dec 1819 Alabama was admitted as a State of the union. The t ravelers were therefore probably going over to what is now Alabama.Andr ew Jackson had told the Indians that the land was theirs, and if anyone c ame in they could do as they saw fit. Hence the passport. Cornelius Cla rk enlisted in the Army under Captain Boren's Diistrict in the Mississi ppi Territory during the War of 1812 and took a prominent part in the w ar According to research done by Mrs. Jerry Kelly of Brigham City Ut.
