Ea rly tax lists indicate he was in North Carolina at an early age and tha t he then migrated to Hancock County Georgia at age of about 19. These passports were to go from Hancock County Georgia to the Miss issippi Territory( then known as the Creek Nation). On 14 Dec 1819 Alabama was admitted as a State of the union. The t ravelers were therefore probably going over to what is now Alabama.Andr ew Jackson had told the Indians that the land was theirs, and if anyone c ame in they could do as they saw fit. Hence the passport. Cornelius Cla rk enlisted in the Army under Captain Boren's Diistrict in the Mississi ppi Territory during the War of 1812 and took a prominent part in the w ar According to research done by Mrs. Jerry Kelly of Brigham City Ut.
